Adobe PDF format, makes for an ideal reference book . Of course, the ability to search words and phrases, magnify text and page contents are already features of Adobe, PDF format. All of our books are periodically updated and some with sources listed are updated yearly.

There are some books that are only available as CD books, because of size or because of the huge cost associated with hundreds of color photographs.
The detail page for each book has ordering capability for all editions that are available with that title. You may order from there or from the Ordering page.If the link from a book's detail page doesn't work, return to this page to link to ordering.
The Ordering Page lists the books, except Ebooks, and provides ordering information from that location. Shipping fees and any discounts in force are automatically adjusted when you order. Presently, there is a 10 % discount for every order from this bookstore. Take advantage of the discount now; all good things come to an end, sooner or later.

This is our most important contribution toward our goal to help others. Until you are faced with a disaster situation, you probably will not appreciate this. I urge you to take a serious look at these books BEFORE your place is a pile of rubble or ashes, has just plain disappeared, or is going gurgle-gurgle in flood waters. The Basic Rule here is ON YOUR OWN. We have learned plenty over more than 50 years and our goal is to transfer our experience and knowledge to those who follow us. They are all based upon our personal experience, except the Terrorism Compendium. Until recently, terrorism was an experience that someone else had, but not us.
It is all about Family. Your survival after a disaster should include keeping your job. The amount of time you need to recover and arrange care for your family after a disaster is proportionate to your preparation BEFORE a disaster. Besides, how long will your employer keep a job opening if you aren't there?

Our government says there were 60,000 new jobs crated last quarter ( and 200,000 layoffs ), most of them were in the service sector and McDonalds was a principal employer. The greatest skill improvement would be to know, "Do You Want fries With That?" in seven languages. Maybe it is time to become self-employed.
We made a good living from the Ceramics Craft for many years. How we did it is the product of these books as well as the technical topic of the books.

Am I a conservation activist? Not in the sense that I go out and hug trees or picket a polluter, but I have spent a lifetime trying, by example, to demonstrate how to conserve energy, reduce pollution, and use alternative energy sources. Those points are emphasized in most of my books. Some people get my message and others will not get it, until it hits them right between the eyes. There's an element of SURVIVAL here, too. Keeping warm or cool is not an option; it is a family matter.

Eight years went into the identification, listing, photography, and finding out how to prepare all of these nearly 3000 plants for eating. You need never to go hungry with this information. Gardening, as well as eating is also a family matter.
We have a collection of paintings and sculpture that are the product of a lifetime of creating art in many forms. These are the pieces we kept for our own pleasure. We have reached the stage that we are willing to part with these works. We will sell them through this Gallery.

The following two books are autobiographical. We have been there, done that. Yes, it takes time, but Fern, my wife and I, have been doing things together for nearly 59 years. Several of these books are hers, and many more have us as co-authors. We are compatible and nothing in these books was accomplished solo. We have been business partners for over 40 years. You might want to take a look at them. They are also part of a recipe for a happy, compatible marriage.

Farming Is Easy. . . . Read the book for the punch line of the title. We have had productive avocado, nut, and fruit orchards, a quarter-acre produce garden, 150-vine vineyard, as well as raising rabbits ( 500 +), goats (4 to 6), sheep ( up to a dozen), cattle (6 at a time), a garden pig, geese and chickens.
For many years our life style depended upon what we grew, except for staples. We have smoked, canned, dried, pickled, frozen, and fermented our produce. The wool from our sheep went into the weaving products also described. There are two lifetimes between these covers.

I wrote this book to present the works of a very versatile artist and designer. When you read our books realize that they describe our experiences TOGETHER. While all of this was going on, she accomplished what is presented in this book. It has been my privilege and honor to watch her genius unfold through our nearly 60 years together. I had to write this book. If you want inspiration or to discover how a truly dedicated artist lives, see this book. My part was serving as her support group - adding engineering and technology wherever it was needed.

Curious About some of the book covers? It is easy enough to create a unique cover when you can sift through Fern Ritchie's paintings, scan part of one and enlarge it for a cover background. Makes for variety, too.

All of our books have plastic comb bindings, with a durable, laminated cover. By having a binding that allows removing or replacing pages, we can update, add, or even change an error without destroying an entire printed edition.
Most of our books are updated periodically. First, we add to the Preface with a new topic, then that topic develops into an Appendix addition, finally, it becomes an added Chapter.
In the case of Terrorism, the assembly of necessary information became a book so large that its 600 pages were only suitable for a CD book with electronic search and handling capability as an Adobe, PDF edition.
